In order for many of us to do certain things, it has to be simple, convenient, and of benefit to us in some way.  Fortunately, when it comes to recycling in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan, it is all three of these things.

We all know it is of great benefit and importance to recycle.  You can’t turn on a television, radio or computer without being reminded of that. Just as a reminder, I have listed some reasons below:

*Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators

*Conserves natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals

*Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to collect new raw materials

*Saves energy

*Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change

*Helps sustain the environment for future generations

*Helps create new well-paying jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries in the United States.”*

If you are familiar with Waste-Away Group’s Single Stream method of recycling, you will agree it is extremely simple. If you participate in our residential recycling program, everything recyclable goes into one container.  No sorting, no bagging and it’s picked up from your curbside every 2 weeks.  What could be easier than that? This brings us to convenient.  According to a previous article entitled “Recycle?.....Why Not”, lacking convenience is one of the top reasons why people don’t recycle.  If you do not wish to, or are unable to, receive residential curbside recycling, loading your recyclables into your car and dropping it off at a recycling drop-off center can be just as easy.

Waste-Away Group has almost 20 recycling center drop-off locations in the Elkhart County area.  These drop-off centers are in convenient, easy-to-find locations; most of them are either on our way to work, at the stores we frequently shop, or in some other way close by.  Their locations and addresses are available with this link:

Regardless of where you recycle...recycle! Hopefully the abundance and placement of these recycling centers will make it very easy and convenient for you to recycle.  If you are interested in Borden’s curbside recycling program, please call our Customer Support department at (574) 293-5001 ext. 570.
